A few weeks back, we wrapped up our First Responder series on the Command Pod with a fantastic session interviewing Emergency Management Professionals. Hosting experienced professionals to discuss strategic planning topics like Business Continuity, federal compliance, and building strong partnerships with local emergency teams was a great way to close out the series Liz Rupert and I have been leading over the last few months.
Since that episode, we've been reflecting on how we at Joffe can further support our event and venue partners in planning for the long term. A robust preparedness plan goes beyond the immediate – it’s about setting up a sustainable framework that grows with your organization’s needs. Here are some key principles that we've found make a real difference:
Aligning with key objectives - Your safety strategy should directly support your operational goals, aiming to support safety protocols that enhance, rather than disrupt, your event experience.
Developing partnerships with local agencies - Working closely with law enforcement, fire departments, and EMS ensures that your plan is well-integrated with the larger community response network.
Incorporating drills and exercises - Regularly practicing and evaluating drills helps refine your response strategies and prepares everyone involved to act confidently during real emergencies.
Engaging all stakeholders - Creating opportunities for meaningful engagement for staff, vendors, and responders strengthens the ability of all personnel to work as part of a coordinated team.
This month, we’re continuing to highlight tools and opportunities to help build or refine your master preparedness plan. Whether it’s through Industry Safety Day Louisville 2025, our Evacuation Drill Planning Toolkit, or episodes of the Command Pod, we are committed to supporting you every step of the way. If you’d like to talk through your planning strategies or explore ways we can collaborate, we’d love to connect.
