This month we’re focusing on workplace violence and sex trafficking prevention and response, essential components of venue and employee safety. I understand that finding resources to address evolving risks can be a challenge, and I want to make this simpler.
We are addressing this challenge in two ways -- our team recently launched the Workplace Violence Prevention Toolkit on our Joffe Event Hub, and Rahel Bayar will join this month’s Command Pod webinar to dig deeper into how venues can address sex trafficking. More information about both of these resources is available throughout this newsletter.
One of our core objectives is to provide comprehensive training that empowers teams to identify and mitigate a wide range of risks effectively. For workplace violence, this means training staff to recognize and de-escalate aggressive behavior. For sex trafficking, it involves teaching our teams to spot and effectively respond to signs ensuring the safety of victims and the involvement of the appropriate authorities.
Here are some key questions to consider as we integrate both of these topics into our safety protocols:
Are our current safety protocols sufficient to address workplace violence and sex trafficking?
What specific training do our staff need to better recognize and respond to these issues?
How might we collaborate with local law enforcement to improve our responses?
What tools and community resources might we utilize to enhance safety at our venues?
For guidance on these questions or to improve your organization’s safety measures, please reach out. We are here to assist you in making your events safer for everyone.
The Workplace Violence Prevention toolkit is now available on the Joffe Event Hub! This introductory training program was developed for organizational leadership and workplace safety professionals to assist in meeting the requirements of California’s SB 553, effective July 1, 2024.
